Showcase Day for all 44 students and parents — Friday, August 22
Three cohorts, by age.
Each cohort runs for five days. Each builds one real project, end to end.
Explorers
Ages 6-9
Using Scratch, students build an interactive game — characters that move, items to collect, points to score. By Friday they have a working game they can play and show.
Builders
Ages 10-13
Using Python, students write code that checks water safety across cities — reading data, applying WHO safety thresholds, and producing a public health report.
Scholars
Ages 14-16
Using Python with real data, students model how an epidemic spreads, simulate what lockdowns and vaccinations do to the curve, and write a policy recommendation.
The daily structure
Every session, every cohort, every day: the same three steps.
01 · Think
15 minutes
A real question is posed. Students reason through it before any code is written. They discuss, they write, they argue. The mathematics begins here.
02 · Build
45 minutes
Students follow guided steps to write their own code. Every line is explained. Every student types every line themselves. The instructor moves slowly enough that no one is left behind.
03 · Explain
25 minutes
Every student explains one piece of their work — what it does, and why they wrote it that way. This is non-negotiable. It is also the part students remember most.
Friday, August 22
On the final Friday, all 44 students and their parents come together on one Zoom call. Every student presents their work — what they built, what they learned, and what they would build next if they had more time. Two to three minutes each. Parents see the project, hear the explanation, and ask questions.
This is the most important day of the bootcamp. It is also the most important day for parents. Most children rarely get to talk about their own work in front of an audience. By Friday, every Learndom student has done it once.
Frequently asked questions
Is it really free?
Yes. The bootcamp is fully funded by Learndom. There is no cost to apply, attend, or complete it.
What software do we need?
A computer running any modern operating system, a stable internet connection, and Zoom. All coding tools used in the bootcamp are free and browser-based — students do not need to install anything.
What if my child misses a day?
Sessions are recorded, and students can catch up. But because the work builds across the week, attendance for at least four out of five sessions is strongly recommended.
